Commanders fans confront another painful reminder of the Ron Rivera era as Christian Gonzalez, selected just after Emmanuel Forbes in the draft, emerges as the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback while Forbes struggles on his second franchise.
Rivera’s decision to pass on multiple future Pro Bowlers—including Jack Campbell, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Zay Flowers, and Dalton Kincaid—for Forbes continues to haunt Washington, underscoring missed opportunities and questionable draft strategy.
The wide receiver depth chart takes an unexpected turn with Treylon Burks named as WR3 heading into Week 1, raising questions about the readiness of Antonio Williams, Jaylin Lane, and Luke McCaffrey. Is Burks poised to finally deliver on his first-round potential, or do these moves highlight deeper concerns about the younger receivers’ development? As Stefon Diggs solidifies the WR2 slot and Jayden Daniels prepares to distribute the ball, the offensive outlook remains a topic of intrigue for the Commanders faithful.
