A reported handshake deal between Tyler Linderbaum and the Washington Commanders raises questions about the team's offseason approach and front office strategy.
Did Washington miss out on reliable—and more affordable—free agent centers by focusing too heavily on Linderbaum, who ultimately signed with the Las Vegas Raiders for $80 million? As the center spot remains unsettled, Nick Allegretti is thrust into the spotlight despite a limited track record as a starting NFL center.
Meanwhile, Rasul Douglas emerges as a potential steal on a one-year contract under $2 million, ranking top ten in Pro Football Network's impact rankings and 20th among 114 qualifying cornerbacks by Pro Football Focus. With Douglas joining young talents like Mikey Sainristil and a recovering Trey Amos, Washington’s secondary suddenly looks poised to bounce back. Can these additions and a retooled defense anchor the Commanders’ playoff hopes as offensive uncertainties linger?
